Prior to 1965 Richmond’s population warranted not one but two separate schools. However, as the town’s residents slowly moved back to the coast there was a need to combine these schools into one campus.

1965 saw Richmond State School welcome three extra year levels and a new building to accommodate them. Ever since, it has been full steam ahead for years 8, 9 and 10 at Richmond State School.
